Unleashing Potential, One Scholarship at a Time

Education and tennis are twin pillars supporting personal growth and excellence. At the Southern Tennis Foundation, we believe that combining these two powerful avenues can propel passionate individuals toward success both academically and athletically.

Eligibility

Before diving into the application process, ensure you're eligible. Here's a refined snapshot of what we look for:

USTA Membership

Must be a current member.

Geographical Criteria

Current resident of a Southern state and must have had residence in a Southern state for a minimum of one school year.

Household Income Caps

  • $100K or less (with no children in college).
  • $120K or less (with 1 or more children in college).

Tennis Participation

  • Played on a high school team for two years OR
  • Participated in Junior Team Tennis, NJTL team or program for two years, OR
  • Ranked in the top 500 in USTA Southern in the past two years

Application Essentials

Must include a high school transcript, a concise essay, a support letter, and financial documentation. Every section of the application must be completed and all supplemental information uploaded for consideration.

Recipient Responsibilities

Be prepared to actively participate in publicity related to your scholarship, cite the pivotal roles of tennis and education in your journey, and provide a photo and/or video.

We're committed to recognizing outstanding potential. Every year, the STF awards ten scholarships of $1,000 each to deserving incoming freshmen. Stay dedicated, and this scholarship will accompany you throughout your four-year collegiate journey.

McLaurin Bankhead

A remarkable talent from Columbia, SC, McLaurin cherishes tennis as a connection to her late father's legacy. An interior design and education major at Auburn University, she has actively contributed to the USTA SC Junior Player Committee and won the Varsity Tennis-Sportsmanship Award at AC Flora High School.

Hailing from Laurel, MS, Micah stands as an epitome of excellence with titles such as the MHSAA Girls State Individual Tennis Champion and Teen Miss Meridian. Majoring in Computer Science at the University of Southern Mississippi, she finds her tennis inspiration in the legendary Serena Williams.

Neo James, a dedicated USTA Junior Team Tennis participant from Charleston, SC, is an Animation major at DePaul University. A recipient of the STF College Scholarship, Neo balances his passion for tennis with academic pursuits and volunteering, inspired by Frances Tiafoe's journey and resilience.

William Silberman from Cookeville, TN, a student body president and varsity tennis player, studies Business Analytics at the University of Tennessee. As a recipient of the STF College Scholarship, he finds life lessons in tennis and draws inspiration from Nick Kyrgios' unique approach to the game.
